Joe Killian covers higher education for the News & Record.
He was drawn into reading first by comic books - which led to more "serious" literature through all the pretentious Shakespeare and Samuel Beckett quotes comics writers used to make themselves feel better about writing stories about overgrown men fighting each other in bright underwear.
These days he still enjoys comics and...ahem...graphic novels, but is also a sucker for a great mystery or sci-fi yarn and devours nonfiction and biographies as well.
