GCS third quarter 2011-2012 honor rolls

The following students in the Guilford County Schools have achieved academic distinction for the third quarter and are included on the school system's "A Team."

Students in grades nine through 12 who received a 4.0 or better grade point average during the third nine-week grading period qualify for the "A Team."

It is opening in the space formerly occupied by Napoli Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria.

WINSTON-SALEM — A commitment Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center made to Dr. John McConnell, its chief executive, when he was recruited led to a nearly 50 percent increase in his total compensation for fiscal year 2010-11, the center reported Tuesday.

McConnell was paid almost $2.5 million in total compensation, compared with $1.68 million for fiscal 2009-10.
