Social Security’s future depends on changes

This letter may anger some seniors. I hope readers may think twice about my comments.

Social Security must be changed to avoid bankruptcy in a few years. When it was established 70 or 80 years ago, most seniors lived until their late 60s. Now, they reach 80 or so. Financial calculations for earlier times simply cannot support present statistics.

What changes may help?

Stop the silliness! May 14’s front page (“Men, women pay gap wide”) was an easy read. It had statistics, charts and quotes. What it didn’t have were comparable facts. Nowhere does the reporter (Donald W. Patterson) tell us about the basis for his wage comparisons.
