GREENSBORO — A long-sought-after News & Record parking lot downtown has gone on the market for about $5.8 million, according to a prospectus put together for potential buyers.
The 3.63-acre site has become available now that the newspaper is for sale.
The parking lot occupies the south end of the newspaper complex and is bounded by Washington, Church, Davie and Hughes streets.
It includes 280 parking spaces, a 31,000-square-foot-building and 1,700 feet of road frontage, according to the prospectus, developed by Hagan Properties, the real estate firm listing the property.
In the past, downtown officials have approached News & Record executives about selling the land, but have been told that the property was not for sale.
In January, however, the paper's parent company, Landmark Communications, announced it was considering selling many of its properties, including the News & Record and The Weather Channel.
Sale of the lot is being handled by Hagan Properties.
Not all of the newspaper's content appears online.
