Stand down, Greensboro: It's only a drill

Thursday, May 15, 2008
(Updated Friday, June 6 - 3:18 pm)

GREENSBORO City police and firefighters took part in a drill Thursday that sent gray smoke into the air near N.C. A&T.

The drill started shortly before 10 a.m. today at the former post office on East Market Street. During the drill, firefighters and emergency personnel responded to the aftermath of a car bomb in the building's parking lot. Victims with realistic-looking injuries were portrayed by students in GTCC's emergency medical science program as well as several who had answered a casting call through a High Point modeling agency.

Emergency Film Group, a Massachusetts company that produces emergency training DVDs and videos, filmed the drill.

The exercise is expected to end at noon today.
