Mother, 2 children dead in apparent murder-suicide
INDIAN TRAIL (AP) — Union County sheriff's deputies say a mother and her two children have been found dead in their home in an apparent murder-suicide.
Capt. Mike Easley says detectives think 43-year-old Amanda Catalina Sherland shot her children before shooting herself with a 9 mm pistol.
The Charlotte Observer reports Tuesday that 9-year-old Ryan Alexander Sherland and 7-year-old Alyssa Nicole Sherland and their mother were found shortly after her ex-husband reported them missing late Sunday.
Conrad Sherland told deputies the children were supposed to spend the weekend at his home. He told deputies he had tried to reach his wife as early as 9 a.m. Friday to say he would be late picking up the children.
The sheriff's office said a note apparently found at the scene pointed to a murder-suicide. Easley would not discuss it.
