Today starts the Easter weekend with special church services and lots of Easter egg hunts for the little ones. Here are just a few:

The city of Eden will sponsor an Easter egg hunt at Freedom Park on Saturday, and there also is a hunt at Chinqua Penn Plantation. Dress the kids in their finest Easter outfits, bring their Easter baskets and spend the day on the hunt.

If you want the kids' pictures made with the Easter bunny, go to the Riverhouse Gift and Gourmet in Eden for a professional portrait. Tom Barbour of Barbour Studio & Gallery will take the pictures for $6.

* Maundy Thursday Service, 7 p.m. today, First United Methodist Church, 130 Main St., Eden. Presented by First United Methodist Church, Draper Pentecostal Holiness Church and Immanuel Friends Church in Draper. * "Room of Remembrance" Maundy Thursday Service, 7:30 p.m., Calvary Baptist Church, 7860 N.C. 87, Reidsville. This drama is set at the time of the Jerusalem Conference, at which the church decided whether Gentiles had to become Jews before they could become Christians.

At the end of the drama, the congregation is invited to partake of the Lord's Supper in a way that evokes personal reflections and Christian action. 349-7474.
