Wake's Skeen suspended for first semester

Wake's Skeen suspended for first semester

(updated Friday, July 11, 12:36 pm)

Wake Forest forward Jamie Skeen will be suspended from the team for the fall 2008 semester for an unspecified violation of university academic policy, coach Dino Gaudio said today.

"Jamie is an outstanding young man with much to contribute to Wake Forest, both on the basketball court and to the University," Gaudio said in a statement released by the school. "However, sometimes good people make poor decisions, and that is what happened here. Hopefully this will be a learning experience for the young man that will help him grow as a person."

Skeen averaged 5.6 points and 4.1 rebounds in 18.4 minutes a game for the Demon Deacons this past season. He started six times.

The ACC will release all its members' basketball schedules in August. If Wake's 2008-09 slate follows the same timetable as last year's schedule, Skeen will miss eight games.
