HAW RIVER — The Alamance County Sheriff's Office said it has shut down an illegal tattooing business.

Brandon Keith Patterson, 26, of 2360 Freshwater Road, Lot 9, Haw River, is in the Alamance County Jail on a $10,000 bond. He was arrested Wednesday and charged with felony possession of a firearm by a felon and one count of misdemeanor tattoo regulation violation. The N.C. Department of Correction Web site shows that Patterson had received probation and suspended sentences for five previous felonies, mostly for fraud and forgery, that took place in Alamance County and in Georgia.

The sheriff's office said it found tattoo equipment after the Alamance County Health Department had received complaints about an illegal tattooing business being operated at Patterson's address.
