City Hall said today it has discovered a memo relating to the infamous black book a memo a city attorney said Tuesday she was not aware of the existence of.
The memo, written by suspended Greensboro Police Investigator Scott Sanders, explains the rationale for creating the book, a lineup that included pictures of 19 African-American police officers.
The News & Record had requested the two-page memo, but Chief Deputy City Attorney Becky Jo Peterson-Buie said there is no public record in response to your request because they are not aware of (its) existence.
City Spokeswoman Pat Boswell said the memo was filed in paperwork with Lt. James Hinson, a black officer who was under investigation by the Special Intelligence Division.
City staffers realized what memo the News & Record had requested when they saw it posted on the Troublemaker blog and printed in the Rhino Times on Thursday, Boswell said.
