DOVER, Del. -- Steven Rush hit two technical four free throws with 1.2 seconds remaining to lead the N.C. A&T men's basketball team to a 63-61 win over three-time defending MEAC regular-season champion Delaware State on Monday.

The win gave the Aggies (8-9 overall and 3-2 in the MEAC) their first victory at Memorial Hall since 2000. Ed Jones led A&T with a career-high 24 points on 10-for-12 shooting.

Roy Bright led the Hornets with 23 points on 5-for-13 shooting from 3-point range.

"It was a tremendous game by both teams,'' A&T coach Jerry Eaves said. "Neither team blinked the entire night. Both teams kept throwing haymakers at one another. I wish my fans down at Corbett could have seen this one because big-time college basketball was played here tonight."

Austin Ewing's 3-pointer with 13 seconds remaining gave the Aggies a 61-58 lead.

But the Hornets tied it when, after a missed shot, Trevor Welcher connected on a long 3-pointer with 1.2 seconds left, sending the Memorial Hall crowd into a frenzy.

However, Delaware State's bench was whistled for a technical foul after some of the Horents ran onto the floor.

Rush's two free throws gave him 13 points for the night.
