Public forums set in UNCG chancellor search

Friday, January 11, 2008
(Updated Sunday, June 8 - 1:14 am)

GREENSBORO Students, university employees and community members are invited to chat about the new UNCG chancellor.

The UNCG chancellor search committee will host a series of open meetings Jan. 23 and 24 at the UNCG School of Music, located at the intersection of West Market and McIver streets, so that local folks can tell the committee what kind of chancellor they would like to lead the university.

Chancellor Patricia Sullivan will retire in July. The search committee, lead by UNCG trustee chairman Stephen Hassenfelt, hopes to approve a list of finalists by May.

Some sessions are geared toward certain groups, but anyone is welcome to speak during any session.

The following sessions will be held Jan. 23 in the Collins Lecture Hall (Room 217): students, 1 p.m.; faculty, 2 p.m.; staff, 3 p.m.; alumni and community members, 7-8:30 p.m.

Another session, on Jan. 24 in the Organ Recital Hall (Room 201) from 1:30-3:30, will be open to anyone.

There will be free parking at the McIver Street parking deck.

A Web site, chancellorsearch.uncg.edu, will be created to provide information on the search.

Those who cannot attend the forums can send in their views and nominate candidates by writing to Chancellor Search Committee, UNCG, PO Box 26170, Greensboro, NC, 27402-6170.
