GREENSBORO — A Greensboro police officer has been suspended with pay because of an internal affairs investigation.
Officer G.W. Bailey has been suspended, said Lt. U.H. Newkirk, a police spokeswoman. Newkirk declined to release other information about the investigation.
Assistant Police Chief Gary Hastings said the city can't release further information because it's a personnel case. The police department had originally tried to stop the release of recordings of radio transmissions among police officers because their content involves mental health issues, Hastings said. Any information involving the mental health process is confidential, he said, referring further legal questions to the police department attorney.
Bailey, 37, was hired by the police department in February 2005, according to the city of Greensboro's Human Resources department.
He earns $43,147 annually. He received a 2.16 percent raise on Dec. 1.
