Men rob pizza deliverer in Greensboro

GREENSBORO — Two men robbed a pizza deliverer Saturday night, police said.

About 9:17 p.m., Khaled Mohamed Mohamed, 21, was returning to his car after delivering a pie for Tito's Pizza at 1356 Norwalk St. when two men approached him, according to Greensboro police.

One man brandished a handgun. They robbed him of his cell phone, cash and GPS, police said in a news release.

Salesman Ted Van Hoy spotted Goldy, a male Reeves pheasant missing from his home in Guilford Hills for about two weeks. The bird was on the side of the building as Van Hoy rounded the corner about 2 p.m. Saturday.

Van Hoy stared at the bird.

Police said Friday they used a Crime Stoppers tip to arrest Tiffany Jade Denham at her home at 1519 Homeland Ave. on Thursday. Denham, 36, was charged with two counts of failing to appear in court.

GREENSBORO — Former U.S. Marshal and Guilford County deputy sheriff Harlon E. Costner announced Friday that he plans to run for sheriff in 2010.

Costner is the second candidate to officially announce his intention to run for sheriff. Sheriff BJ Barnes said over the summer that he plans to run for re-election to the post he has held since 1994.

GREENSBORO — Dr. Russell A. Cobb, founder of one of the Triad’s largest and best-known chiropractic clinics, died Thursday afternoon. He was 66.

Cobb, the owner of Cobb Chiropractic Clinic at 1001 N. Elm St. in Greensboro, died following a 20-year battle with manic depression, said Doug Harris, his longtime attorney.

Police: Pizza deliverer shot after refusing robber's demands

GREENSBORO — A pizza delivery driver was shot Wednesday night after he refused a robber's demands, police said.

Mujahid Ahmed told Greenbsoro police he was delivering a pie for Fox's Pizza at 2227 Tillman Ave. about 7:32 p.m. when he was approached by someone.

The suspect tried to rob Ahmed but shot him after he refused to comply, according to police.
