 <description>&lt;p&gt;GREENSBORO &amp;mdash; Guilford County Commissioner Melvin &amp;quot;Skip&amp;quot; Alston said today he will not seek re-election to his District 8 seat.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Alston, a Democrat, was first elected to the board in 1992 and was elected four more times after that. He ran unopposed in four of those five races.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Alston has been chairman of the commissioners since 2008.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
