How to Place Your Celebrations Announcement

 

The News & Record is pleased to announce the special occasions in your life. Celebrations announcements appear each Sunday in the Life section of the News & Record and on News-Record.com.

Placing Your Announcement

To create and submit your announcement using our online site in just 4 simple steps!

  1. Choose your style. Select from one of our many styles of announcements. Choose a style based on the size and shape of your photograph and how much you would like to say.
  2. Upload your photo. Digital or scanned photos should be in jpg format. Your photo will appear in black and white.
  3. Tell your story. Write your announcement in your own words. The Publisher reserves the right to revise, edit or reject any or all copy and photographs deemed unsuitable for publication.
  4. Submit your announcement.  The deadline for Sunday celebration announcements placed online is no later than Monday at 4:30pm.

If you do not want to use our online service, we will be happy to assist you with your announcement. Simply download the correct form below and return it by postal mail, fax, or in person. These forms require the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software.

If you would prefer, we can also fax or mail you the forms for placing your announcement (we are unable to e-mail them). Please call (336) 373-7053 or e-mail celebrations@news-record.com with the following information:

* Name
* Which form you need (Engagements, Wedding or Milestones)
* Full address or
* FAX number

The deadline will remain the same regardless of which method you chose to submit your information. The spelling of names and places and the legibility of handwritten information will be the responsibility of the person submitting the information.

Photographs

Professional photographs with sharp focus are preferred for best reproduction. We will accept amateur photographs with the understanding that we are not responsible for the quality of reproduction of these photos. We do not reimburse for poor quality of photo reproduction in such circumstances.

Deadlines

If you are mailing, faxing or bringing your announcement to the News & Record, the deadline is 11 days prior to the Sunday publication date. The information must be received in the Greensboro office no later than 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, 1 1/2 weeks before the desired Sunday publication date. All paid announcements must be proof read by the customer before they are published. Final proof corrections must be made on Monday or Tuesday by 5:00 p.m. in the week of publication. Proofing can be accomplished by coming by our Greensboro office or by FAX. We will not be able to proof announcements by e-mail. No Celebrations announcement will be published without proof release and prepayment.
 

Rates

Announcements are priced at $30.10 per column-inch (1 3/4" wide by 1" deep). The minimum size for photos is 1 column by 2" deep, at a charge of $60.20 for the photo. (A picture showing two people may expand to 2 columns, with the cost for the photo beginning at $120.60.) Examples of some available sizes are found in our brochure, you may call or e-mail us to request a copy of our brochure.

When you proof your announcement, we will be able to advise you of the cost. Rates are subject to change. Payment may be made by cash, check, MasterCard, Visa, American Express, or Discover.

Free six-line announcements are available for engagements, weddings and 50th anniversaries that do not include a picture.
