Today, April 16, 2009, News-Record.com has launched a minor redesign. Although few true structural changes have been made to the website itself, it may take users some time to become accustomed to the new navigation features and the site's different "look."
Q. Why have you changed the appearance of the site?
A. Our goals with the new design were to give news-record.com a fresher, more engaging treatment while reducing the number and size of elements users' web browsers were required to download in order to properly display the site.
We have also tried to make the site more readily accessible to visually impaired users and users accessing the site from more limited browsers.
Q. What are some of the key new features?
Q. Why doesn't the site look good or perform well through my browser?
A. Although we have tested the site thoroughly in several major browsers, including Firefox®, Internet Explorer® versions 6, 7, and 8, Apple Safari®, and Google Chrome®, it is impossible to anticipate every combination of browser, operating system, and versions thereof. In addition, desktop security and privacy protection software can sometimes interfere with some of the site's more advanced features.
To enjoy News-Record.com as its designers intended, we strongly suggest that you upgrade to the latest version of Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, or Chrome. If you are using an older version of one of these browsers -- or are using another browser entirely -- and cannot upgrade to a more recent version, please be aware that certain features may not work for you.
We have tried to ensure that the site "degrades" gracefully for users of older or more feature-limited browsers and that these users can at least access the core content of the site even if certain convenience features aren't available to them. If the site is crashing your browser or is otherwise unacceptably crippled, please contact us and let us know.
Not all of the newspaper's content appears online.
