Wake Forest transplant recipient returns to field
WINSTON-SALEM (AP) — The Wake Forest baseball player who received a kidney from his coach has returned to the field one year after the transplant saved him from a disease that could have led to kidney failure.
Left-fielder Kevin Jordan drove home a run, scored another and struck out three times in the Demon Deacons' 16-15 loss to High Point in today's home opener. Jordan drove in the run on a fielder's choice and scored on Conor Keniry's single as part of a seven-run first-inning that gave Wake Forest a 7-1 lead.
High Point scored six runs in the second inning to tie the score, and took a 16-10 lead into the bottom of the ninth. Wake Forest scored five runs, but Keniry struck out with the bases loaded to end the rally.
