True blue heaven

Regarding the Feb. 16 letter ("God is a Duke fan?"):

Your point, Mr. (Steve) Patton, is well-taken, as I am sure everyone is aware that God definitely is not a Duke fan, for, if he or she were, the sky would be Duke blue instead of Carolina blue.

An excellent letter from Dick Douglas is closed, yet a letter that contains a hackneyed statement that has been used in Chapel Hill for decades is open?

Well, it had been getting pretty hot on here as of late, with daily topics involving prayer, brith control, politics, etc.. this is maybe a good letter to bring back a bit of good natured sports jabbing, and bring it down a notch.
(or Up a notch..L)

Agreed. Nice change of pace, though being a Duke fan, I'd have preferred to see a liitle love for the RIGHT team for a change. :-p

Hmm, thought they were showing love for the RIGHT team here? L

I guess they're tired of fielding responses to political footballs. LOL.

A newspaper, you say?!? Are you sure, for surely this is not only not news, but an elementary school argument. I suppose it is an opinion, or at least an extremely lame statement, but if this is the kind of thing they are putting in newspapers these days, its no wonder they are all failing.

Who is the more likely fuddy duddy? Me, or the person who said fuddy duddy?

If you want better LTEs, you need to write some.

Also, there were two letters today about Obama, and one of them is open for comments for all of your Obama bashing (or Obama praising) needs.

I figured folks might want a Duke/UNC thread for a change. A little break from the routine might help you sharpen your arguments a bit. Come up with some new material, people!

You know, I sort of wished that the original letter had been opened for comments... Regarding the penchant for sports stars to believe that God was intervening in their games on their behalf, we see this all the time. Religious leaders argue against it for being ridiculous and for cheapening religion, but it remains an ingrained tradition. Personally, I find that most interesting.

Oh I know, it's a fluff subject, but it DOES seem to touch on one of my personal hobbies, the study of the psychology of religion.

Getting back to the sky color indicating God's team preferences... from Sept 21 to March 21, the sky is black more hours per day than blue. Maybe God's a Wake Fan? With just a TOUCH of sympathy for State at sunrise and sunset? :-p

Since I was unable to attend Duke, to expensive for my family at the time, or UNC, too snobbish still, please help me understand something. If UNC was chartered in 1789, as the first public university, are you saying God is only 223 years old or are you just plain ignerent in saying that the sky is UNC blue or is it more likely that UNC is Sky Blue?

Before UNC chose light blue for the school color, the sky was green. LOL!

Enough said.
