Gay relationships are about love, not sex

Archie M. “Andy” Capps (“Proposed amendment supports N.C. families,” letter, Feb. 12) and others make me absolutely crazy! Where do you get your ideas?

“Just any kind of union”? Some guy in yesterday’s paper suggested mating with a tree. We’re talking about human beings — a human woman loving another human woman; a human man loving a human man.

We’re not talking about sex here. We’re talking about the love of the mind, body and spirit of another human, male or female.

When I was dating as a heterosexual, I went to parties where all the women wound up in the living room talking about the price of groceries and the diapers their babies wore, while the men were in the kitchen discussing the moves of the last basketball game.

I was interested in neither so I didn’t know where I belonged — until I found that women are often interested in the same things together, sensual, intellectual and aesthetic. I also know men who have found common kinds of interests.

And if we “infest” the state, the richer North Carolina will be, and as we often teach your children, the more accepting, loving and interesting they will be.

As many of us have families, we are also “pro-family” and are not as rejecting and judgmental as you are.
