Student with cerebral palsy attacked in Yadkin County

Three students who were connected to a fight involving a student with cerebral palsy are no longer at Starmount Middle School in Yadkin County, and at least one felony charge has been filed, authorities said this week.

Yadkin County Schools Superintendent Stewart Hobbs said the incident happened Dec. 1 and has been the subject of persistent rumors that no one investigated it or took action.

But the Yadkin County Sheriff's Office filed a felony charge in the case, said Sheriff Ricky Oliver. He said he could not release the names because juveniles are involved.
