SHELBY (AP) — The FBI plans to use social media and billboards to look for new leads in the case of a Shelby girl who disappeared 12 years ago.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation will feature photos of Asha Degree just before she disappeared at age 9, along with an age-progressed photo of what she might look like now as a 19-year-old on 14 digital billboards. The FBI also will post photos on Facebook and Twitter.

Asha's family last saw her asleep in her bedroom around 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 14, 2000. She was seen walking along N.C. 18 in Cleveland County about 90 minutes later. Her book bag was found buried along N.C. 18 in Burke County more than a year later.

Asha's family and friends held their annual prayer walk Tuesday.
