WINTERVILLE (AP) — Pitt County authorities say a father and son are free on bond after being charged with sexual exploitation of minors because of images of children found on their computers.

Authorities say Melvin David Wetzel, 64, of Winterville and his teenage son are no longer being held at the Pitt County jail.

The Daily Reflector of Greenville reported today that Melvin Wetzel is charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and his son is charged with seven counts.

Sheriff's office spokeswoman Christy Wallace says authorities have investigated the two since October.

It wasn't immediately clear if they have attorneys. The Associated Press left a message at a phone number listed in Melvin Wetzel's name.
