— The state Attorney General's office will handle any potential prosecution of state Rep. Larry Womble, D-Forsyth, for his role in a fatal crash that occurred nearly 2½ months ago on Reynolds Park Road.

Noelle Talley, a spokeswoman for Attorney General Roy Cooper, said Tuesday that the office's special prosecution unit has been assigned the case.

Forsyth County District Attorney Jim O'Neill said he asked the attorney general's office to handle the case several weeks ago because O'Neill and Womble have opposing views on the Racial Justice Act.

Womble won't be prosecuted. You and I would have had the proverbial book thrown at us by now, but those who belong to the political royalty have a different set of laws.

Race has nothing to do with this, (politics maybe) it is a simple case...if the evidence and crash investigation show that he crossed the center line into on coming traffic and absence any other variables on his part, he would be guilty of misdemeanor death by a motor vehicle while driving left of center. If convicted, his license would be suspended for a year, (no jail time) but I'm sure his attorney would apply for a limited driving privilege during that time. Then the civil trial would start.

"Winston-Salem police said in a report updated today that David Carmichael, 54, had a blood alcohol content of 0.29 percent when he was killed in the wreck Dec 2.
State Rep. Larry Womble remains in serious condition at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Police said he had no alcohol in his system."
Carmichael was drunk... end of story.
