BURLINGTON — A 23-year-old man is the third person to be charged in last weekend's slaying of a Burlington woman.
Burlington police said today that Keith Antonio Graves of 609 Everett St. was arrested Thursday afternoon. He was charged with first-degree murder in the murder of Brittany Jernigan, 21, who was fatally shot in her apartment at 1408 Stout St. on Saturday night.
Two other men face first-degree murder charges in Jernigan's death. Brett Allen Cole, 22, of Snow Camp later turned himself in to police shortly after Jernigan's death. Andrew Napoleon Brown, 23, of Burlington was arrested Wednesday.
All three men are being held in the Alamance County jail without bond.
Investigators initially said Jernigan was killed during a robbery attempt but have since said they are not sure that a home invasion took place.
Police said Jernigan knew Cole but have been mum on their relationship.
Police said five people, including a 4-year-old child, were inside Jernigan's apartment when the shooting took place. Jernigan's two children and husband were not there.
