RALEIGH -- Wake County sheriff's deputies jailed a 33-year-old this afternoon on charges that he raped and molested a 12-year-old girl over a period of years.

Investigators think the offenses began in 2001 and ended in 2010,court records show.

Todd Lawrence Kurth of 605 Downpatrick Lane in Raleigh has been charged with one felony count each of first-degree rape, indecent liberties with a child and two felony counts of statutory rape, according to arrest warrant filed today at the Wake County Magistrate's Office.

Sheriff's investigators think Kurth repeatedly raped the child from Dec. 1, 2005 through June 4, 2006, court records show. The deputies think the incidents continued on June 4, 2007 through june 4, 2010.

The investigators think Kurth took indecent liberties with the child beginning on June 3, 2001 through June 4, 2003.

Authorities first learned about the sexual allegations in May when a psychotherapy counselor reported to the sheriff's office that a juvenile client disclosed that she had been the victim of sexual assaults over a period of several years, according to a search warrant made public today at the Wake County Clerk of Courts Office.

Kurth is the founder of the K Foundation, "a foundation that raises money for other non-profit organizations," according to its website. The K Foundation held a raffle in October to raise money for the Make A Wish Foundation, according to its website.

Kurth remained in custody today at the Wake County Jail. He is being held under a $100,000 bail, court records show.
