My refuge is at stake

Thursday, February 9, 2012

I live in the 3800 block of West Friendly Avenue and my home is my refuge — my sanctuary. Now, for the third time, I have been forced into battle to maintain this status quo where I have co-existed with my neighbors since 1969.

To allow Trader Joe’s or any commercial organization to cross the “Hobbs Road barrier” designated by the city would destroy our trust; our homes would be devalued and certainly less desirable. Our quality of life would be jeopardized by increased noise, lights and traffic. And I would exist only to wonder when another business, wishing to invade my sanctuary, will force me into battle again.

Trader Joe’s, come as a friend. Find a nonresidential location and I shall welcome you with opened arms.
