Update: Greensboro officer suffers minor injuries when car flips

— A Greensboro police officer was injured Tuesday night when he lost control of his car on High Point Road en route to a robbery call.

Officer P. T. Hannon Jr. was treated at Moses Cone Hospital for minor injuries.

Hannon was responding to a reported robbery at the Rite Aid at Mackay and High Point roads about 9:45 p.m.Tuesday when he lost control of his car. The vehicle went off the road to the right, overturned and landed on its roof.

The crash happened on High Point Road near Alamance Road.

Greensboro police said the car was totaled. No other vehicles were involved. Police did not know how fast he was going.

Hannon, 29, joined the department in May 2008. He has not been charged with any traffic violations.

Police said the robbery call at the drug store turned out to be a false alarm.
