The Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation got a clean bill of health today in an audit of the commuter agency's operations and financial reporting during the last year.
The audit reviewed 2010 accounting problems that federal transportation officials flagged last spring in a move that also froze some federal support for the regional program. Financial consultants told PART's oversight board this morning that those problems were fixed last year. The problems dealt with accounting methods, not improper use of money.
In other action, the board elected new officers to guide its work this year: High Point Mayor Becky Smothers, chairwoman; Surry County commissioner Paul Johnson, vice chairman; Davidson County commissioner Don Truell, treasurer; and Greensboro City Council member Dianne Bellamy-Small, secretary.
