2 children critically hurt in Winston-Salem fire

WINSTON-SALEM — Two children were found unconscious inside a burning house Thursday night.
Winston-Salem police did not identify the children, whom firefighters found inside 1809 Trellis Lane. Both children are in critical condition at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center with undisclosed injuries.
Police said the fire was reported at 11:41 p.m. Thursday. Flames and smoke were visible when firefighters arrived.
Police said a woman had left her two children alone before the fire started. Police did not say why or for how long.
The fire department does not yet know how the fire started. No charges have been filed.
