The Fine Arts Festival Association of Rockingham County has announced entry dates and other details for its 2012 Festival.
Music and literature submissions will be accepted on March 27; all other category submissions will be accepted on April 12. Times for both dates are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Whitcomb Student Center at Rockingham Community College.
The entry fee is $5.
Categories are acrylic, computer art, drawing/printmaking, fiber, glass, mixed media (two-dimensional), music, oil, pastel, photography (black and white), photography (color), poetry, pottery, prose, sculpture and watercolor.
Entries should be the original work and design of artists ages 16 and older that has been completed within the last two years. Each category must have five entries from at least three artists to be judged.
Two additional awards — the First Time Entry Award and the People’s Choice Award — have been added. Prizes range from $500 for Best in Show to $25 for third place and People’s Choice.
An awards ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. April 22 at the Advanced Technologies Building at RCC.
Items will be available for purchase as well, a 25 percent commission is taken on all works sold during the Festival Exhibit. Other purchasing times are during college hours April 23-27 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 28 and from 1 to 4 p.m. April 29.
