WINSTON-SALEM (AP) — A Winston-Salem high school coach has apologized after a 15-year-old student recorded him during a profanity-laced confrontation over text messages that he and another official sent to a 16-year-old female student.

The Winston-Salem Journal reports that Mike Muse, a coach at East Forsyth High School, said he apologized to the teen and his parents. Muse also said he has been disciplined, although officials wouldn't say Thursday what action was taken.

Muse says in the Jan. 19 recording that he texted the girl about her grades. Kernersville Police Officer James Deeney was heard warning Dillon Tschenko that a student who accused another teacher of sexual misconduct couldn't return to school because other students would beat him up.

Tschenko's parents released the recording because they said that the school system appeared to be taking no action.
