THOMASVILLE — Two people were arrested Wednesday and charged with sex crimes in unrelated cases.
Thomasville police said that Kaiffe Gary Aponte, 43, of 11 Cates Ave. was charged with second-degree rape and first-degree kidnapping.
On Jan. 22, High Point police were called to High Point Regional Hospital to investigate the sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl that is alleged to have taken place at Aponte's home.
Police said the girl met her assailant through Facebook, where he was posing as a 19-year-old.
Aponte is being held in the Davidson County jail on a $100,000 bond. He already was in jail on related charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Police did not identify the girl or say when the alleged offenses took place.
Also, Jon Michael Waddell Jr., 17, of 211 Salem St. was charged with indecent liberties with a child and child abduction.
Police said the incidents were alleged to have happened Jan. 16 at Waddell's home. The victim is a 12-year-old girl. Police did not identify her.
Waddell is being held in the county jail on a $50,000 bond.
