GIBSONVILLE — A 2-year-old boy died after sustaining injuries from being ejected from a vehicle on Interstate 85 Thursday morning. Jamree Charles died Sunday, said Highway Patrol spokesman Greg Ingram on Monday.
Charles, another 2-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy were ejected from the SUV, Ingram said. There were not in car seats or wearing seat belts. Seven people were in the SUV.
Sherika Chandler, 39, was charged with driving while license revoked, failure to maintain lane control and a child restraint violation.
The crash happened shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday on northbound I-85/eastbound I-40, near the Guilford-Alamance county line.
Ingram said Chandler lost control of her 1995 Isuzu SUV and overcorrected, which caused the vehicle to leave the road and roll over several times. The SUV came to rest on the right shoulder of the interstate.
Chandler told troopers that she swerved because a tractor-trailer drove into her lane, Ingram said.
Ingram did not know the medical conditions of each person.
