Spartans, Aggies on winning streaks

If you hustle, you could get to both games.

You could see an afternoon doubleheader featuring the city’s two resurgent NCAA Division I men’s basketball teams.

Both N.C. A&T and UNCG have put dismal Decembers in their rearview mirrors. Both are on winning streaks. And both host conference opponents today.

UNCG has won five in a row under Wes Miller. The youngest active Division I coach will turn 29 today, and a victory over Western Carolina at 2 p.m. at the Greensboro Coliseum would even Miller’s record at 6-6 since taking over the program Dec. 13.

N.C. A&T has won four in a row and five of its last six since going 0-8 in December — all on the road during a seven-state odyssey.

The Aggies return to the Corbett Center against Maryland-Eastern Shore at 4 p.m. today after three MEAC road wins in a row.
