GIBSONVILLE — A Greensboro driver has been charged in an Interstate 85 crash on Thursday where three children not wearing seatbelts were ejected from the vehicle.
Sherika Chandler, 39, was charged with driving while license revoked, failure to maintain lane control and a child restraint violation, Highway Patrol spokesman Greg Ingram said Friday.
The crash happened shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday on northbound I-85/eastbound I-40, near the Guilford-Alamance county line.
Ingram said Chandler lost control of her 1995 Isuzu SUV and overcorrected, which caused the vehicle to leave the road and roll over several times. The SUV came to rest on the right shoulder of the interstate.
Chandler told troopers that she swerved because a tractor-trailer drove into her lane, Ingram said.
Ingram did not know the medical conditions of each person.
Ingram identified Chandler's six passengers as: Jordan Chandler, 19; Kanish Gibbs, 21; Karma Miles, 4 months; Jevon Scales Jr., 2; Jamree Charles, 2; and Darious Chandler, 17.
