GREENSBORO — Police say a woman's body found in the trunk of a car Thursday was the result of a homicide, and a local man faces a murder charge in her death.
Greensboro police today identified the victim as Ashely Lahsay Murphy, 25, of 517 Mystic Drive.
Justin Dupree Scales, 22, of 1226 Lolly Lane, was arrested about 3:30 a.m. Friday on 16th Street. He has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bond in the Guilford County jail
Murphy's body was found Thursday afternoon in the trunk of a car parked near East Wendover Avenue and Tucker Street.
Police did not say how Murphy was killed or when she died. Police did not say if Scales and Murphy knew each other. Police gave no motive for the slaying.
