RALEIGH (AP) — The U.S. surgeon general is visiting North Carolina to talk to about 200 of the state's health advocates.
Dr. Regina Benjamin speaks Thursday at the annual conference of state health directors in Raleigh.
Benjamin's job is giving the public the best scientific information available on how to improve their health and the country as a whole. She and her North Carolina colleagues are talking about steps that prevent illness and building healthier communities.
Benjamin's visit includes getting conference participants to exercise during the meeting and an evening one-mile walk in Durham.
On Friday, Benjamin's attention turns to fighting tobacco and obesity.
