SHELBY -- Alexa Carpenter crossed an item off her bucket list last year: 15 minutes of television fame. The Shelby native will share her spotlight with family and friends on The Learning Channel.
She'll appear on "Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta" Friday night.
The popular TLC television series helps brides-to-be find the perfect wedding gown. Shelby High School graduate Amanda Sherman appeared on the show in August last year.
Carpenter and fiance, Will Shull, were engaged last June. She's a nurse at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. Carpenter said her segment was filmed for one day in August.
"It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be on national television," she said. "It was my first time trying on wedding dresses."
Carpenter said she's a huge fan of the show. She said the most expensive dress she tried on was priced at $3,500. Carpenter said she wants lace in her wedding dress for a "timeless, elegant" feel.
"I tried on a lace dress and my friend, Trey Faile, said it looked like his grandmother's table cloth," she said with a laugh.
Carpenter announced a wedding date for June 23 of this year at The Saratoga Springs venue in the town of Mount Pleasant outside Concord.
Only TLC will tell if Carpenter said yes to a dress before she's married this year.
