Hayes-Taylor YMCA to hold meeting about move

GREENSBORO — The Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA will hold a meeting later this month about its proposed move to Barber Park.

The meeting will be at 10 a.m. Jan. 28 at the Gateway University Research Park's South Campus Auditorium at 2901 E. Lee St.

The Hayes-Taylor Y is now at 1101 E. Market St.; however, N.C. A&T is buying that site, which is adjacent to campus. The YMCA is considering a move to a 15-acre site at East Lee and Florida streets.

I think that's a good site and I think they would get considerable assistance to make that facility more advanced. I think the universities and businesses in that area would contribute to building the facility to match the innovation that is happening at the research park. It would be a boon to the development of that area also.
