UNCG 55, GEORGIA SOUTHERN 54: Natalie Headley's put-back jumper in the lane with 2.2 seconds left capped a wild finish and lifted UNCG to a 55-54 SoCon win over Georgia Southern on Sunday, snapping the Spartans' nine-game losing streak.

The Spartans (3-13, 2-6) led 50-36 with 5:21 left, but Georgia Southern (5-12, 1-7) started a 13-1 run that saw pull within two points with a minute to go.

ELON 51, CHARLESTON 46: An Ali Ford 3-pointer with less than 3 minutes to play capped a 15-4 run for Elon.

Ford led the Phoenix (8-9, 4-4) with 15 points.

NO. 7 DUKE 61, VIRGINIA TECH 34: Duke (14-2, 5-0 ACC) took command with a 22-2 run in the first 10 minutes. The victory gave coach Joanne McCallie 50 wins in 61 ACC games, making her the second-fastest to the milestone. Kay Yow of N.C. State did it in 57 games.

SYRACUSE: A prison inmate who was one of four men to accuse former assistant coach Bernie Fine of sexual abuse when they were children has admitted that he made up his claim. The accuser said he wanted to get back at the coach because Fine did not hire a lawyer to help him fight a criminal conviction.

Fine had helped raise the 56-year-old VanHooser after his parents died.
