BURLINGTON — One of the first electric vehicle charging stations at a North Carolina rest area has been placed at the rest area on northbound Interstate 40/85 on the Alamance/Guilford county line.
State officials will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
The state has placed charging stations at the 40/85 rest area and a rest area located at the Interstate 40/95 junction near Benson. Each area sees more than a million visitors each year, according to the state Department of Transportation.
The stations were provided by Raleigh-based Praxis Technologies through a grant from the N.C. Department of Commerce Green Business Fund Program.
Wednesday's ribbon-cutting will be hosted by Praxis and feature speakers from the state transportation and commerce departments.
