GREENSBORO — More than 30 people evacuated their apartments after a cooking fire pushed smoke throughout the building around 4:15 p.m. today.
Firefighters ventilated the top three floors in The Pavilion at the Heritage House apartments and allowed the people to return to their homes about an hour later.
The stove fire occurred in Room 421 of the apartment complex at 301 W. Meadowview Road, Greensboro Fire Battalion Chief Danny Edwards said. The fire was contained in that apartment.
One person in that apartment was transported to Moses Cone Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. No one else was injured.
Firefighters knocked on each door of the fourth, fifth and six floors and asked those who would answer to leave the building. The residents waited outside until they were allowed to re-enter the building.
