— Narissa Nida, an employee at Noelyne Ltd. salon, was on the phone at the front desk late Thursday morning when she heard a loud crash.

It was the sound of a Chevrolet Traverse plowing through the entrance of the salon at 3073 Boone Trail Extension.

"I thought she (the driver) ran into the building," Nida said. "I looked up and she was in the building."

The driver, Cathy Stanfield, arrived for her appointment shortly before 11:15 a.m. and was pulling into a parking space in front of the salon, nestled between the Pizza Hut and McDonald's restaurant, when something happened.

"I heard this revving sound," Stanfield said, "and I couldn't stop."

The sport-utility vehicle came to a stop in the doorway. The front quarter-panel on the driver's side was peeled back.

Three clients were inside the salon at the time, owner Noelyne Langston said, but no one was hurt.

"I was in the back and heard a crash," Langston said. "I knew something bad had happened, but I had no idea."

The employees and clients were able to leave through a side exit.

A building inspector was called to determine whether the business had structural damage that would require it to close. His decision was not known by early Thursday afternoon.

Langston said the salon's clients will continue to be served, even if it means having to move temporarily to an alternate location.

No damage estimate was immediately available.
