GREENSBORO — For the second time in two weeks, the Better Business Bureau is warning local businesses about an e-mail scam.
The Central N.C. chapter of the national business group said its members are getting emails with the subject line "Complaint from your Customer." The emails contain a fake Better Business Bureau address and the logo and address of the Council of Better Business Bureau, the umbrella organization for the BBB.
The scammers appear to be trying to get access to financial information of the targeted businesses.
The latest wave of e-mails started Tuesday. By 10 a.m. Tuesday, the local BBB office in Greensboro had gotten about a dozen calls.
Businesses who get these emails should delete them. If the emails are opened, a virus scan should be run on the computer system.
