AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — U.S. marshals say they've arrested a woman in Augusta who had been on the run for almost 17 years.

The Augusta Chronicle reports that marshals arrested 52-year-old Sara Jean Rusher at a Waffle House restaurant early Friday. She is wanted in Greensboro on federal probation violation charges from March 1995.

Marshals suspect she went into hiding with her fugitive husband David Lee Rusher, who had escaped from prison in Estill, S.C., in February 1995.

Richmond County Deputy Mark Bowen says a woman called to report her husband had died of emphysema. She called herself Joan Piper Duncan.

After authorities identified David Lee Rusher using his fingerprints, marshals began looking for his wife.

Rusher was set to be extradited to Greensboro. It wasn't clear whether she has a lawyer.
