GREENSBORO — Tuition for N.C. A&T undergraduate students would increase 10 percent next year according to a plan the university's business affairs committee discussed Friday morning.
In addition to the increase in the 2012-13 school year, undergraduate students will pay an additional $200 in tuition per year for the next five years. Graduate students will pay an additional $300 a year during the same time period.
The $279 tuition and $106 fee increases recommended for in-state undergraduate students will bring total tuition and fees to $4,951.50 next year.
A $408 tuition and the $106 fee increase for in-state graduate students will mean total tuition and fees of $5,686.50.
A&T's full board of trustees will meet Friday afternoon to vote on the recommendations.
The UNC system has a 6.5 percent cap in place on tuition increases, but system leaders are allowing campuses this year to propose increases above that cap to help make up for money lost through budget cuts.
A&T plans to use the money generated from the tuition increases for need-based financial aid, academic and student support and graduate assistantships.
