BURLINGTON — Two people escaped injury when their car was hit on the tracks Wednesday afternoon.
Burlington police said a 1993 Oldsmobile driven by Brandy Danielle Cain, 31, was hit as it crossed the tracks at Elmira Street near West Webb Avenue. The incident happened about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday. Police said the car was struck by Norfolk Southern railroad maintenance equipment.
Police said Cain, her 10-year-old passenger and the man operating the railroad equipment were not hurt. The car was a total loss.
Cain, of 1144 Spence Court, was cited for driving with a suspended license. Witnesses said the railroad crossing arm did not come down.
