— The start of the expanded Piedmont Winterfest has been delayed because of the wet weather. The downtown ice skating rink had been scheduled to open today.

“We saw it was going to be significant rain today,” said Ed Wolverton, president and CEO of Downtown Greensboro Inc. “The rain is not good for skaters.”

The larger rink will open at 4 p.m. Friday and run through Jan. 29, a week longer than last year.

I'm from the South, but isn't it too warm for an outdoor skating rink?

Not if you're promoting Downtown Greensboro and all it's wonderful "attributes"!!!

What??!! Wonderful Attributes??!! All the bars in Downtown?? That is basically all that thrives downtown are the bars. You will NEVER catch me at a function (dysfunction) downtown...you can count on that. Greensboro just needs to stop trying to be something that it is not. It is just a little, nasty, sess pit---full of broke-down, rotten downtown bars.

You've obviously never been to First Friday or most of the shops down South Elm...
Perhaps it's time to reassess.
