GREENSBORO – City council members unanimously approved a $37,500 grant for a medical billing company to expand in Greensboro.

Springfield Service Corp. plans to rent office space on West Market Street and hire 75 new employees in the next three years, according to the city.

The Illinois-based company plans to pay the employees an average of about $28,000 a year – about $12,000 less than the minimum salary required under Greensboro’s incentive program guidelines.

The company’s planned $350,000 capital investment also is well below the city’s $7 million requirement.

The council waived those requirements. They approved the grant without any comment Tuesday night.
